Q I thought it was acne and kept squeezing and treating it, but it didn't heal and got even redder. How is rosacea different from acne?

A Rosacea's red bumps can look like acne, but the differences are that there are no comedones (blackheads and whiteheads), the face flushes easily, and broken capillaries are visible. Squeezing it like acne actually makes it worse, so distinguishing the two is important.

Detailed Answer

Rosacea produces red papules and pustules and is easily confused with acne, but unlike acne it has almost no clogged pores (comedones) and is accompanied by persistent central-face redness and capillary dilation. Squeezing it like acne or doing harsh exfoliation can make the inflammation and redness worse, so accurate differentiation is needed.

Korean Medicine Clinic Perspective

Even though they look similar on the surface, rosacea centers on upward-floating heat and a vascular reaction, so the approach is different. Rather than forcibly squeezing and irritating it, Dongjedang lowers internal heat and calms inflammation so that the redness and bumps settle down together.
