Q Can infant constipation also be treated with Korean medicine?
A Pediatric-specific prescriptions are possible from 6 months of age. For infancy, we approach mainly with external treatment and massage.
Detailed Answer
For infants under 6 months, we manage with abdominal massage, acupoint stimulation, and solid-food adjustment rather than oral herbal medicine. From 6 months onward, very small herbal prescriptions adjusted to body weight can be started. Constipation at the time of starting solid foods often improves with dietary correction alone.
Korean Medicine Clinic Perspective
At Dongjedang, for infant constipation we also provide the mother's dietary correction (when breastfeeding) and advice on the order of introducing solid foods.
